A windy wind up.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update: 12/31/11 For Today: Happy New Year’s Eve! High winds have all but blown this weak northern system out and regional radar is only showing the weakest ribbon of moisture moving south along the I-70 corridor. We can expect some cloud cover and maybe an isolated snow shower on the highest terrain but today will really be about strangely warm and windy conditions.
Temperatures: Overnight lows are a reflection of this odd pattern with Gunnison reporting 42 degrees early and 28 for Crested Butte. Daytime highs won’t move much for Gunny topping out at 48 degrees and 37 for CB with colder windchills in the 20’s. Look for colder lows tonight but still holding to the 20’s.
Outlook: We will continue to see this high pressure ridge holding across the west driving weak pacific systems around to the north while drawing warmer conditions and sunshine in for us. The next round of potential moisture holds off until next weekend but we’ll have to see how the pattern develops.
