A cold clear start.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update: 12/23/11 For Today: As skies cleared overnight we saw super cold temperatures settle in that will fuel a valley inversion that will keep us cold for a couple days. Look for a slow rebound in temperatures even with the sun and pack plenty of layers to stay warm. Respect the frostbite potential early.
Temperatures: Overnight lows dropped under the clear skies to -11 valley wide. Highs will climb slowly to just 20 for Crested Butte and 17 for Gunnison. Look for another cold low with all elevations reaching right around -10 degrees.
Outlook: Sunny skies will be with us through the weekend with the cold valley inversion keeping temperatures cold through Saturday. Christmas day will bring a good warm up with a string of mild sunny days taking us into the beginning of the week. Pacific systems are building in the west but we won’t see anything until later next week.
