An old fashioned hole of the donut.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update: 12/22/11 For Today: We are getting a late start with this system with regional radar showing moisture swirling around to the north on the other side of the divide and to the west along Monarch Pass. The wind blowing in early will help the snow find our area but will also mean dangerously cold windchill values through the day. At this point we are hoping for the 2-4” the National Weather Service is still calling for.
Temperatures: Overnight lows dropped to 2 degrees at 2am in Crested Butte but have warmed valley wide. Highs won’t move much from early morning temperatures with CB topping out at 19 degrees and Gunny dropping to 22 with significantly colder windchills. Lows tonight will drop to the negative teens for all elevations as skies clear.
Outlook: This system will clear by tonight leaving us with strong valley inversions and cold clear conditions. We will warm slowly into the weekend but be prepared for the continued cold.
