Break out the down.

TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update: 12/5/11 For Today: The northern cold front has settled in and even as skies clear we will see a strong valley inversion that will dominate through the beginning of the week. Winds will mostly be calm but pack plenty of very thick layers today and be prepared for a mix of sun and clouds but consistent cold temperatures.

Temperatures: Overnight lows dropped to 1 for Crested Butte and 7 for Gunnison. Highs will creep back up to 11 for CB and 14 for Gunny. Look for potential record lows tonight dropping to the negative teens for all elevations.

Outlook: Break out the down because cold will be the trend through the beginning of the week with a stagnant inversion keeping the lowest valleys hovering on 10 degrees for highs with lows dropping well below 0. A glancing blow from a northern storm will help mix out the cold later in the week but cold and sunny will be the name of the game until then.
