Fog early but sunshine breaking through.
For 7/30/10: For Today: The fog we are seeing early will burn off quickly with mostly sunny skies expected to dominate through the early part of the day. Precipitable water levels are above an inch all across southern Colorado and this means plenty of fuel for afternoon thundershowers. Expect more hit or miss slow moving systems through the later part of the day and plan accordingly.
Temperatures: The rain and cloud cover kept us warm again overnight with Crested Butte reporting 51 degrees and Gunnison holding to 53 degrees. Highs for today will be slower to rebound with the fog early but Crested Butte will hit 72 and Gunnison will flirt with 81. Tonight will offer more mild lows hovering on the 50 degree mark.
Outlook: The doom and gloom forecasts of heavy rain have been over done and we will just see more of these scattered systems filling in through the afternoons. You will want to be prepared with layers and if you are caught in one of these slow moving systems, expect to get wet. Be conscious of water levels at crossings.
