More mixed conditions today.

For 7/22/10: For Today: The southern plume is continuing to hold strong with a direct stream of moisture stretching all the way to Mexico. Regional radar is showing thunder cells moving in our direction out of the southwest with a steady stream promising more thundershowers starting early and continuing throughout the day.

Temperatures: Lows were colder than we have been seeing with Crested Butte reporting 47 degrees while Gunnison held at 50. Daytime highs will be cool again with the cloud cover and intermittent showers with Crested Butte topping out at 68 degrees while Gunnison pushes 75 with longer gaps of sunshine. Look for another cooler night tonight as skies clear a bit dropping to the high 40’s for all elevations.

Outlook: We will see another blocking ridge build between us and the southern plume by Friday but there will be enough residual moisture to fuel consistent afternoon thundershowers through the weekend. Look for longer sunny windows but conditions will remain mixed and any plans should include a contingency for rain.
