Sunny early again but thundershowers likely.
For 7/9/10: For Today: We are seeing nothing organized but general moisture levels have been rising steadily through the end of the week. We can expect another afternoon a lot like yesterday with sunny skies early activating the moisture in the atmosphere with convective thundershowers building over the higher terrain before spilling to the lower valleys. Skies will clear again this evening but get an early start or be prepared.
Temperatures: Lows were colder than expected with the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting 34 degrees and 38 degrees for Gunnison. Daytime highs will rebound quickly with the sunny start with the north end of the valley hitting 70 degrees while Gunnison hits 78 degrees. Lows will be cool again tonight with the clear skies with all elevations in the mid to high 30’s.
Outlook: Precipitable water levels will decrease through the weekend but isolated thundershowers will be a real possibility through the afternoons. Plan accordingly if adventures take you to the high country and have some shelter available at the Blue Grass festival right around the 4pm mark.
