Sunny early but more lurking moisture.

For 7/8/10: For Today: We are continuing to see the slow infusion of moisture from the south with radar again showing a narrow stream of moisture to the southwest that will fuel more isolated thundershowers later in the day. Look for gusting winds to build after noon with areas of heavier cloud cover following soon after. Have some layers handy this afternoon especially if you head to the high country.

Temperatures: Lows have continued to climb by a couple degrees with Crested Butte reporting 39 degrees and 41 for Gunnison. Highs for today will look a lot like we have been seeing with 69 degrees expected for the north end of the valley while Gunnison will top out at 77 degrees. Look for lows to settle at or above 40 degrees for all elevations tonight.

Outlook: The southern plume continues to work it’s way around to our southwest with precipitable water levels steadily rising. This will mean the increased threat of afternoon thundershowers into the weekend but models are waffling on strength and timing with drier air threatening to move into the north. Stay prepared but expect changes.
