The glory days of summer.
For 7/6/10: For Today: We are continuing to see this dry air holding over our area but the southern moisture is on the move and today will likely be the last day this week of the dry western conditions. Look for cloud cover building with the heat of the day over the divide but that should be it for convective activity with some light gusting winds and mostly sunny conditions dominating.
Temperatures: Overnight lows have stayed cold with this dry air dropping to 34 degrees in Crested Butte with Gunnison reporting 35 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound under the sunny skies but hold to 69 for Crested Butte and 77 for Gunnison. Lows will be cold again overnight in the mid to high 30’s for all elevations.
Outlook: High pressure will form today to the southeast pushing the southern moisture back up into our area by tomorrow. Moisture levels will rise steadily through the week providing fuel for afternoon thundershowers with Friday afternoon looking the most active. These will favor the higher terrain but you will want to be prepared for all afternoon activities.
