Clear and sunny to start the 4th.

For 7/4/10: For Today: Happy 4th! The pattern has turned to the west and as drier air settled in, so have cooler conditions. We can expect to see some remnants from the southern moisture activating over the higher terrain earlier in the day offering very scattered thundershowers but skies will clear through the afternoon and evening for BBQ’s and fireworks. Expect some gusting winds as skies clear later in the day.

Temperatures: Lows were colder overnight with the drier air with Crested Butte dropping to 37 degrees and Gunnison holding higher at 41 degrees. Daytime highs will weigh in a couple degrees cooler with CB reaching just 68 and 77 for Gunnison. Look for another chilly night tonight with all elevations dropping to the mid to high 30’s.

Outlook: A cold front and dry air from the northwest will keep us in cooler but also dry conditions through the beginning of the week. By Wednesday we will see the return of some southern moisture but it’s clear sailing until then.
