Sunny and warm early but some thundershowers lurking.
For 7/3/10: For Today: Drier air is slowly working it’s way into our area from the west. We will continue to see the threat of convective activity through today but thundershowers will taper off through the afternoon as the drier air settles in. Stay prepared especially if you are headed to the higher terrain and get out early.
Temperatures: Lows were warmer again overnight hitting just 43 degrees for Crested Butte and 46 for Gunnison. We have rebounded early and temperatures will climb to 73 degrees for CB and 81 for Gunnison before the heavier cloud cover builds. Look for lows still holding in the low 40’s for tonight.
Outlook: A zonal pattern building in the west will keep us in the drier air through the 4th and into next week with the fuel for these thundershowers drying up. We can still expect the threat for tomorrow but they will be widely scattered and should dry by the early evening with clear skies on tap for the fireworks. Stay prepared but we are looking drier all the way into next week.
