Zonal pattern returns.

For 6/28/10: For Today: The subtropical plume has continued to cycle further to the east and a zonal pattern will form in the west offering a dry slot that will dominate through today and into next week. Look for mostly sunny skies but some residual moisture will continue to threaten convective thundershowers over the higher terrain through the heat of the day. Get out early or be prepared.

Temperatures: Overnight lows held to the high 30’s valley wide with Crested Butte reporting 37 degrees and 39 for Gunnison. Daytime highs will climb to 71 degrees at the northend of the valley and push 80 for Gunnison. Look for another low tonight in the mid to high 30’s for all elevations.

Outlook: The specter of monsoon season is looming but the zonal pattern building the west will grant a reprieve for now. We can expect dry conditions to likely hold through the holiday weekend but be prepared for thundershowers over the higher terrain just in case.
