Sunny and much calmer.

For 6/23/10: For Today: High pressure is holding in the southwest but we are seeing the influx of moisture from the south and northwest that will fuel some convective cloud cover through the afternoons. Look for mostly sunny conditions dominating with less wind now that this change has taken place.

Temperatures: Lows have continued to be cooler than models are forecasting with Crested Butte dropping to 32 degrees overnight and Gunnison holding just a bit warmer at 34 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound early with the higher elevations holding to 72 degrees but the lower valleys climbing to 81. Look for another cold overnight low flirting with the freezing mark for all elevations.

Outlook: The western weather pattern is starting to show signs of the seasonal southern plume that fuels convective thundershowers through the afternoons but without the consistency we see in July. Expect Thursday and Friday to present thundershowers over the higher terrain before we dry out again for the weekend. Pack a layer but moisture’s pretty limited.
