Clouds on the peaks but sunny in the valleys.
For 6/12/10: For Today: The brunt of this low pressure trough has stalled to our west and has created a cyclonic flow drawing moisture up from the south. Regional radar is showing a thick stream of moisture lifting through southern Utah and extreme western Colorado that will eventually find our area later in the day. Expect thundershowers early on the higher terrain spreading over the valleys after noon.
Lows are holding steady with Crested Butte reporting 39 degrees and 42 degrees for Gunnison but with wind. Highs today will drop by another few degrees topping out in the mid 50’s and the low 60’s for Gunnison. Tonight could be stormy but with lows dropping to the mid to high 30’s offering a snow line around 10k feet.
We are likely trading the sunnier skies today for slower clearing through Sunday and Monday. Look for colder temperatures through tomorrow with wet snow possible down to the valley floors but with no accumulation and thundershowers through the afternoon. Take advantage of windows but know your out and be prepared.
