Sunny but convective activity brewing.

For 6/8/10: For Today: We are running a dry slot between the northern flow of pacific moisture and the southern plume that lifted out of New Mexico yesterday. No organized moisture will find our area but the increase in moisture in the atmosphere will combine with the warm temperatures and produce convective thundershowers through the heat of the day. These should stay to the north but will remain possible over the higher terrain.

Overnight lows have held to the 40’s for all elevations with Crested Butte reporting 43 degrees and 44 degrees for Gunnison. Daytime highs will hit the mid to high 70’s at the higher elevations while Gunnison reaches the mid 80’s. Look for another overnight low in the low 40’s tonight.

The pattern continues to look a little more active through the end of the week and isolated thundershowers are starting to appear in the forecast by the weekend. There’s nothing too impressive out there but the pattern is shifting to a wetter flow.
