Another great start but windier conditions expected.
For 6/5/10: For Today: We are seeing fundamentally the same pattern in the west with the pacific moisture just to the north and hot southwestern conditions to the south. Today promises to be windier than initially forecast blowing in high clouds through the afternoon but we’ll continue to see warm temperatures. All in all a great day but pack a layer especially if you are headed to the higher terrain.
Low clouds held the warmer temperatures in with Crested Butte on dropping to 42 degrees this morning and Gunnison reporting 43 degrees. Daytime highs will be a couple degrees cooler than yesterday with the wind but still hold in the 70’s for all elevations. Tonight will be colder than last night but still holding above freezing in the high 30’s.
Hot and dry remains the dominant condition for the extended forecast with moisture holding to the north. This will mean accelerated melt and high water in all the local rivers and creeks. Be careful at all crossings.
