A beautiful start to the holiday weekend.

For 5/29/10: For Today: The variable presented by the northern cold front has lifted further to the north than initially anticipated and we will see just a slight increase in cloud cover through this afternoon and some gusting winds. Temperatures will be cold for the next 36 hours but sunshine will be the dominant weather feature through the weekend and into next week. Expect partly to mostly sunny conditions valley wide with gusting winds building through the day before cooling into tomorrow.

Overnight lows were warm again under the southwestern influence with Gunnison holding at 41 degrees while Crested Butte dropped to 38 degrees. Daytime highs will be a few degrees cooler than yesterday with the mid 60’s likely for the higher elevations while Gunnison will hover on 70 degrees. Tonight will offer significantly colder overnight lows with all elevations dropping to or below freezing under this colder northern air.

The stormier western track has lifted to the north and we will see high pressure conditions settling in for the extended forecast. Temperatures will warm again for Monday with nothing but blue skies on tap through the beginning of next week.
