Increasing winds but blue skies.

For 5/28/10: For Today: This milder southwestern flow is continuing to hold while the latest round of pacific moisture pushes through northern Colorado. Just enough moisture may make it over the divide through this afternoon to fuel isolated thundershowers at the northend of the valley but it will likely be limited to high clouds. The combination of these two fronts will produce another round of high gusting winds that will build through today and continue into tomorrow.

Overnight lows stayed well above expected levels again last night with Crested Butte reporting 39 degrees and Gunnison a balmy 40 degrees. Today’s highs will continue to warm with the high 60’s and low 70’s likely valley wide. These warm highs will hold again tonight with the high 30’s for the north and low 40’s expected for the lowest valleys.

We are seeing dueling fronts building into the area for this weekend and we will stay on the dry and sunny side but cooler temperatures and wind will be with us through Saturday night.  Temperatures will rebound Sunday and Monday will kick off a week of warm high pressure.
