Another sunny day and calm to start.
For 5/26/10: For Today: The low pressure trough in the west is continuing to creep slowly in our direction but has mostly stalled today offering another sunny and only slightly windy day. We can expect some gusts today but more on par with yesterday. The southern flow will strengthen ahead of this slow moving system from the west and will draw warmer conditions up into the area with today and tomorrow offering the warmest highs we have seen all spring. It promises to be another incredible day so make some plans and get outside.
Overnight lows have stayed cold without the wind with Crested Butte reporting 28 degrees last night while Gunnison dropped a degree colder to 27 degrees. Daytime highs will climb under the relative calm southern influence with the high 60’s and even low 70’s possible. Look for another couple degrees warmer tonight but still holding just below the freezing mark.
Models are waffling on this low pressure trough and it will definitely lift through to our north but we may also luck out with a dry slot as it blows through. Expect changes but as it stands, Thursday afternoon will offer isolated thundershowers while Friday will be the windiest day of the week as the moisture clears to the east.
