Windy but warm and sunny.
For 5/22/10: For Today: High winds remain our big weather feature for the weekend with high pressure out of the southwest continuing to hold strong. We will have another beautiful day on tap with warm sunny conditions but the interaction between our dry from the south and this cold front to the north will fuel high winds gusting to 50mph through the day. Look for some scattered cloud cover blowing through this afternoon but definitely nothing worth changing any plans over.
Overnight lows were warm thanks to the continued winds with Crested Butte dropping to 35 degrees while Gunnison stayed even warmer at 39 degrees. Daytime high are rebounding early with all elevations expected to be in the 60’s while the lower valleys continue to work towards 70 degrees. Look for another warm overnight low above freezing hovering above the 35 degree mark.
These warm and dry conditions will hold through Sunday with a quick shot of moisture through Sunday night and Monday offering our first variables. These are fueled by the system holding well to the north and will be limited to isolated showers and thunderstorms but temperatures will cool. Dry conditions return by Tuesday.
