Snowing early on green grass.

For 5/19/10: For Today: The pattern switched to a northwestern flow overnight and we are seeing a consistent stream of moisture running parallel to the line stretching from Gunnison to Rifle. This will fuel a mix of rain and snow showers through the day with the snow line hovering right at 8500ft. Look for gusting winds this evening to clear this moisture to the east and open the door for high pressure that will be setting up for tomorrow and holding into the weekend.

Overnight lows were warm with Crested Butte dropping to 32 degrees overnight and holding there while Gunnison was a couple degrees warmer at 34 degrees. Daytime highs will creep up but the low 40’s is about all we’ll see for all elevations. Tonight will be colder with lows dropping to the high 20’s under clear skies.

The steady stream of western moisture we were expecting to dominate this week has all but cleared the area and high pressure will move in for the end of the week and the weekend. We will see some cloud cover mixing in but conditions should stay sunny until Sunday. Get the inside projects done today.
