Sunny skies feeding a burst of life.
For 5/16/10: For Today: This high pressure ridge has set up early and we are looking at the first clear morning we have seen in a while. These sunny skies will hold through the better part of the day with just some convective cloud cover building with the heat of the day over the higher terrain. This window of warm and sunny conditions will be shorter than initially forecast so definitely make some plans and get outside.
Overnight lows dropped under the clear skies and drier conditions with Crested Butte reporting 23 degrees and Gunnison holding right in step at 24 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound quickly with the sunshine with highs in the high 50’s and low 60’s expected valley wide. Tonight will see some increased cloud cover that could moderate lows but the high 20’s or 30 degrees will be the low point.
This ridge will be breaking down earlier than initially forecast and we will see thundershowers by Monday afternoon. Another big low pressure trough is building in the pacific that will mostly develop and build to the north but we will see another round of moisture setting up for next week. Enjoy the sunshine today.
