Spotty sunshine but more snow.

For 5/12/10: For Today: We are continuing to hold to the southern most edge of this system with the brunt turning into an upslope system having the heaviest impact on the front range and northern Colorado. The variable in the forecast is the line of storms in the Midwest that will stall and turn the northern system bringing it back over our area. We will see snow in varied degrees throughout the day with significantly less wind but squally cells that will keep the pattern busy.

Overnight lows were cold with the colder northern air settling in with Gunnison again reaching lower to 19 degrees while Crested Butte reported 20 degrees. Daytime highs will slowly climb to the high 30’s and low 40’s but will remain well below normal. Tonight will offer another low like last night while we wait for this colder system to clear the area.

Our extended forecast is dominated by these pacific systems stacking in the west. Nothing is really directly targeting our area but the slow west to east progression is allowing for wrap around moisture. Expect snow in varied degrees through the end of the week.
