High clouds to start but set warm.
For 5/8/10: For Today: To start, it’s not as bad as it looks. Regional radar is showing some low clouds but only over our area and there is little to no moisture involved. We will see this cloud cover cycling clear of the area slowly with chance thundershowers holding off until this afternoon. The zonal pattern in the western jet is still drawing weak waves of pacific moisture through the area but pockets of moisture are few and far between.
Overnight lows were about where we expected with Gunnison staying the warmest at 27 degrees while Crested Butte dropped to 23 degrees at 2am before the cloud cover rolled in. Daytime highs will rebound to seasonal norms today with all elevations expected to be in the 50’s but the cloud cover could slow things down this morning. Skies will be clear again tonight which will allow for another overnight low in the 20’s.
The pattern in the west remains active but benign for our area. We won’t see any real strong wind until tomorrow and any moisture for today will be hit or miss and mostly restricted to the higher elevations. There is nothing worth changing plans over but it won’t hurt to have a layer handy.
