Sunny skies are back but with a cold start.

For 5/7/10: For Today: The weak northern wave that bought us the weather through yesterday has cleared the area but the cold is lingering. We will see clear and mostly sunny skies all day but look for the cooler conditions to hold. We will warm back up for the weekend but the warmer temperatures also bring some more convective potential by Saturday night.

Overnight lows were half of what we saw Wednesday night with Gunnison dropping the lowest at 19 degrees while Crested Butte bottomed out at 21 degrees this morning. We will see sunny skies warming temperatures quickly but highs will still linger around 50 degrees with the lower valleys at 55 degrees. Tonight’s lows will be warmer but look for the mid to high 20’s for all elevations.

Western radar is showing little by way of organized moisture but weak waves are brewing in the pacific and will keep conditions changing through the beginning of next week. Pack some layers as you head out today and be prepared for colder temperatures early with much warmer and sunnier conditions on tap by the afternoon.
