A clear and sunny start.
For 5/3/10: For Today: We have swapped that stubborn trough from the weekend for a high pressure ridge and a cold morning is going to turn into a much warmer and sunnier day. High pressure is set to be the trend through the beginning of the week with a zonal pattern taking over for us in the west while a more active pattern holds to the north. We will see some high clouds and gusting winds but look for a rebound from the wintry weather.
Overnight lows stayed cold with the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting 18 degrees and Gunnison staying a bit warmer at 19 degrees. Daytime highs will climb by close to 10 degrees from what we saw this weekend with the mid 40’s to low 50’s likely for all elevations. Tonight will offer warmer lows but still hovering around 20 degrees.
Gusting winds will be about all we will see for variables through the next couple days with this milder western flow holding through Wednesday. There is another weak northern trough set to move through northern Colorado later in the week but it should hold to our north until Thursday. Definitely plan to get outside while this window lasts.
