A last gasp from this northern flow.
For 5/2/10: For Today: A last gasp of wintery weather has rolled in overnight before this low pressure trough pushes clear of the area. Regional radar is showing pockets of moisture all over western Colorado that will be cycling through our area over the course of the day. So it looks like another day of at least intermittent snows and colder temperatures but we are still on track with the high pressure ridge and sunny skies for tomorrow.
Overnight lows were warmer with the cloud cover and snow with Crested Butte once again dropping the lowest at 23 degrees but Gunnison was not far behind at 25 degrees. Look for a slow rebound while this snow and heavy cloud cover hangs on but we should climb through the 30’s to the low 40’s by the afternoon if the sun manages to break through. Look for warmer air starting to move in tonight but clear skies will allow for a low in the high teens before we really warm up.
We will see about a 180 degree change in the weather through the beginning of the week as we swap a mild and sunny zonal pattern for this cold from the north. It may be worth trading some work today for a day off when it’s nice if that’s an option. Otherwise bundle up as you head out and expect squally snow showers throughout the day.
