Lingering snow and colder temperatures.
For 5/1/10: For Today: The concentrated moisture associated with this last pacific round has all but cleared the area but isolated pockets are continuing to hold on and the cold will linger through tomorrow. Breaks to sunny skies will be longer throughout the weekend but regional radar is showing small pockets working their way out of the northwest into our area that will fuel continued snow showers. Cold temperatures and the continued threat of snow will mean you want to bundle up as you head out today.
Overnight lows were cold again with the clearer conditions overnight with Gunnison dropping to 16 degrees and Crested Butte going lower to 14 degrees. Daytime highs will hover in the high 30’s for the more active north end of the valley while Gunnison and the lower valleys will pop to or above 40. Lows tonight will be slightly warmer as all elevations see milder air moving in but look for 20 degrees valley wide.
Squally pockets will bring bursts of snow to the higher elevations becoming weaker showers down low but be prepared for all conditions today. Snow accumulations will be minimal but it’s set to remain cold.
