More winter than spring.

For 4/30/10: For Today: This cold front from the north has fully established itself through the day yesterday with the trough drawing moisture down from the north to fuel more snow through today. We saw a bit of a reprieve yesterday with the cold reaching us but the brunt of the moisture staying clear of the area. Regional radar this morning is showing the front end of a more organized wave from the northwest dropping right on us and we will see more snow throughout the day.

Overnight lows were near records all over the west with a hard freeze in all the lower valleys as Gunnison weighed in at 17 degrees and Crested Butte dropped to 14 degrees. Daytime highs will climb to the high 20’s and low 30’s but expect light winds to offer windchills that feel colder. Look for slightly warmer lows tonight but only hovering at or just above 20 degrees.

Today will be the coldest and snowiest in the forecast with 2-5” likely depending on elevation and the hard freeze overnight meaning it will stick. Conditions are set to gradually improve through the weekend but overall temperatures will be well below normal with snow showers continuing into Sunday.
