Warm and sunny...for today.

For 4/27/10: For Today: This high pressure ridge has moved in and we can expect a significant turn around in temperatures with all elevations expected to pop by 10-15 degrees over the colder highs we have been seeing. Definitely get outside today because we are headed for yet another significant change with an unseasonably cold system setting up in the west for the end of the week.  Today will be the best chance at pure high pressure conditions but look for winds to start blowing by this afternoon and continue to build into tomorrow ushering this next front by tomorrow night.

Overnight lows were colder than we have been seeing with the clearer skies with Crested Butte reporting 21 degrees and Gunnison weighing in just a degree warmer at 22 degrees. Temperatures will rebound quickly with highs valley wide climbing to the high 50’s and even low 60’s for the lower valleys. Tonight will offer warmer highs climbing to around 30 but expect high gusting winds.

Wind will be the big weather feature on the front end of this change with gusts blowing to 50mph or above through Wednesday and Thursday. By early Thursday we will be back in the snow so take advantage of the window today and get outside.
