Sunny again early but changes brewing for the west.

For 4/20/10: For Today: Mare’s tails and fish scales are sifting into the area early and these indicate a change on the way with a strong pacific storm moving into California and feeding into the west. Isolated thundershowers will be building in the area with the heat of the day that will hold mostly to the higher terrain but a thick cover of high clouds is likely by this evening for everyone else. Look for mostly sunny conditions early with gusting winds feeding this cloud cover in through the afternoon.

Overnight lows have stayed even through the beginning of the week with Crested Butte reporting 26 degrees overnight and Gunnison dropping to 29 degrees. Daytime highs will climb quickly under the clear skies topping out in the 50’s for all elevations with the cloud cover and gusting winds making it feel a little cooler. Look for warmer temperatures tonight with the increased clouds.

Today will mark our day of transition with a fresh volley of pacific moisture set to feed thundershowers and rain through Wednesday and snow by Thursday. Just how much remains in question but you will want to get outside projects buttoned up today and enjoy the sunshine.
