Mostly sunny.
For 4/18/10: For Today: A ridge of high pressure has set up in our area on the heals of this last round of moisture and mostly sunny skies will dominate through today and hold into tomorrow. There is still plenty of moisture in the atmosphere and as temperatures warm throughout the day we can expect some convective cloud cover. Isolated thunder showers are not out of the question but will be limited to the higher terrain and the divide.
Overnight lows were warm under continued cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 25 degrees and Gunnison dropping to 30 degrees. Daytime highs will rebound quickly under sunny skies with the 50’s likely for all elevations and the 60’s not out of the question for the south end of the valley. Look for clearer skies overnight allowing for colder lows in the low 20’s.
This high pressure ridge will hold for Monday and models are continuing to shift on the arrival of moisture next week and it’s looking like it could be limited to just convective cloud cover until a bigger system on Thursday. Expect gusting winds building this afternoon but skies should stay mostly clear until then. Make some plans and get outside.
