A snowy start to Easter.
For 4/4/10: For Today: Happy Easter! The southern most end of the northern remnants from this last round are still offering snow early with regional radar showing enough moisture to hold on through the early afternoon. We are into a day of transition although the early look doesn’t really show it. The colder northern influence will blow clear of the area with mild southern air filling in this afternoon. Expect high gusting winds through the late part of the day.
Overnight lows were mild with Crested Butte reporting 23 degrees but Gunnison stayed much warmer at 33 degrees with the early shot of warm air from the south. Daytime highs will top out in the 30’s for the north end of the valley and the 40’s for Gunnison but look for colder windchill values. These same winds and the southern influence will keep lows mild tonight for all elevations.
Look for big changes over the course of the day today with high winds building into the afternoon and mild southern temperatures dominating until tomorrow. Monday will bring a strong pacific wave with more snow expected through Tuesday morning. Pack layers today and expect changes by the afternoon.
