Big changes brewing.

For 3/30/10: For Today: Fasten your seat belts because we are about to start a wild ride with a complex pattern of  cold fronts and low pressure troughs rubbing up against warmer weather to the south. We can expect high winds today blowing up through the afternoon with gusts in town up to 30mph and much higher on the ridges and higher elevations. High clouds will build into the area mostly through the later afternoon with the front end of this system blowing in by Wednesday.

Overnight lows have remained mild overnight as the warmer southern airmass holds with Crested Butte reporting 19 degrees and Gunnison slipping to 17 degrees. Daytime highs will be very mild with the mid 40’s a real possibility but high winds will keep it feeling cooler. Look for more milder overnight temperatures before the colder northern air settles in but also continued high winds.

Snow will be with us through Wednesday afternoon and Thursday but this complex pattern has a number of variables that will affect the outcome. Be ready for weather and definitely make sure everything is strapped down.
