Cold and clear to start.
For 3/20/10: For Today: Skies have cleared overnight a little faster than expected offering a very cold morning but we will see the scattered remnants offering widely scattered snow showers over the higher terrain through the first half of the day. Look for a mix of mostly sunny conditions but we won’t be warming up too quickly until tomorrow when the high pressure ridge really sets up in the area. Bundle up today and don’t be fooled by the sunny skies, it’s going to stay colder than we have been seeing.
Overnight lows plummeted under the clear skies with the fresh snow cover with Crested Butte reporting -5 degrees and Gunnison just a bit warmer at -1 degree. Daytime highs will rebound under the sunny conditions but this cold airmass will keep us in the 20’s. Look for another cold overnight low tonight but it will be a couple degrees warmer pushing us to the positive single digits.
Tomorrow will bring the return of spring like temperatures and clear sunny skies as this high pressure ridge truly sets up. These incredible conditions will hold on through Monday but the rest of the week is looking active. Be prepared as you head out today and pack plenty of layers.
