High pressure early.
For 3/1/10: For Today: The weak dynamics that we saw with this last system were strong enough to block the moisture in our area but not strong enough to make it snow. We are seeing the high pressure gap moving in a little earlier than expected today but look for some remaining snow showers over the higher terrain. Mostly sunny skies will dominate with some gusting winds helping to cool off what would be another unseasonably warm day.
Overnight lows were mild with Crested Butte reporting 8 degrees while Gunnison held to 11 degrees under the low clouds. Daytime highs will flirt with the mid 30’s again today but the winds could have it feeling more like the 20’s. Look for more clear skies tonight with all elevations dropping towards the 0 degree mark.
The rest of this week is proving to be a bit hard to forecast with the models differing on storm tracks for a system moving in on Wednesday. Until then look for more mild sunny conditions but be ready for changes later in the week.
