The threat but no snow so far.
For 2/28/10: For Today: This storm has turned out to be much to-do about nothing so far as the brunt moves well to our south leaving some scattered remnants for today, The real issue has been a lack of organized moisture and poor dynamics to get any snow falling. A colder shot from the north will drop into the area early today which will get some snow falling but this might just be too little too late.
Overnight lows were mild for the north end of the valley with Crested Butte reporting 15 degrees while Gunnison dropped under the clearer skies to 2 degrees. Daytime highs will be colder as this northern influence sets up with the low teens a likely high for all elevations. Heavier cloud cover and snow is supposed to dominate tonight but the colder air will push all areas to the single digits.
The tail end of this system will clear the area through the day on Monday with a high pressure ridge setting up for Tuesday and Wednesday. This will mean the return of sunny skies but temperatures will remain on the cool side. Layer up today and expect changes.
