Sunny and clear.

For 2/26/10: For Today: We have entered the gap between these pacific systems with high pressure and sunny skies expected to dominate through today. Look for increasing cloud cover tonight as the next pacific wave settles into the area but the brunt is expected to push to our south limiting the potential for any serious accumulation. We can expect warmer temperatures and wet snow through Saturday night with some lingering remnants clearing the area through the day on Sunday.

Overnight lows were fairly mild given the clear skies with Crested Butte reporting -2 degrees while Gunnison dropped a couple degrees lower to -5 degrees. We will see a pretty quick rebound with these super sunny skies with all elevations holding in the mid to low 20’s. Look for warmer temperatures tonight with the increasing cloud cover but this will mostly effect the north with the lower valleys still dropping below 0.

This next wave is looking pretty impressive on the radar early today but it is set to split with the better potential heading south of Colorado. We will see snow but only in the 3-6” range through Sunday morning. Don’t forget your sunscreen today.
