Another cold morning but changes brewing.

For 2/24/10: For Today: The front end of this next round of pacific moisture has choked up on us and is moving into the area a little earlier than expected. We are seeing high clouds early that will continue to build throughout the day. Snow will likely hold off until tonight with Wednesday afternoon through Thursday looking like it will present the best chance at snow.

Overnight lows plummeted under the clear skies with Crested Butte dropping to -10 degrees while Gunnison, under clearer conditions, hit -25 degrees. Daytime highs will struggle again after the cold start with the increasing cloud cover further moderating the change with the low teens a likely high for the day. Tonight’s lows will be warmer with the influx of a warmer southern airmass with temperatures holding in the single digits right around 0.

These next rounds of snow will come in two distinct shots on Wednesday and then again on Saturday. Neither is threatening a huge result but 4-6” per shot is a likely outcome. This could change so stay tuned for updates but think snow. Pack plenty of layers today with this cold start.
