Another sunny start but snow possible for Fat Tuesday.

For 2/16/10: For Today: No real changes in the western weather pattern as these blown out waves feed scattered remnants through the area. Today will look a lot like yesterday with areas of sunshine giving way to isolated snow showers which will favor the divide and higher terrain. Snow showers further to the south can’t be ruled out so be prepared with layers today to account for changes into the afternoon.

Overnight lows were warmer thanks to high clouds hovering on the 0 degree mark with Crested Butte reporting 1 degree and Gunnison -1 degree. Daytime highs will likely climb a little higher than yesterday but still be limited to the mid to high 20’s depending on your elevation. Tonight could be a few degrees cooler than last night with a gap between waves offering clear skies and thus colder temperatures.

The snow that we were expecting to build in through tomorrow has stalled and will affect our area for Thursday and Friday instead of the earlier forecast. The high pressure ridge holding on the west coast is continuing to blow these systems apart and force them around to our north. This could change into next week but until then expect more of the same.
