Clear early but more snow on the way.
For 2/15/10: For Today: This ridge is continuing to hold over the west blowing apart these weaker pacific waves creating a very unorganized flow of moisture. The result will be a lot like what we saw this weekend with days starting out sunny and giving way to snow showers and high clouds through the afternoons. Models have backed off the bigger predictions for this week and another round of hit or miss cells dropping an inch or two at a time is all we’ll see.
Overnight lows were cold under the clearer skies with Crested Butte dropping to -14 degrees and Gunnison holding a little warmer at -11 degrees. We will rebound fairly quickly under the sunny skies but look for increasing cloud cover to hold highs to the mid to high 20’s. Look for warmer lows tonight as the cloud cover holds on dropping to around the 0 degree mark or just below.
There are no big pockets of moisture in the forecast for this week but a consistent slow trickle will keep dropping some snow every day. With these scattered squally systems you will need to be prepared for changes as you head out for the day and check back for updates as the pattern continues to shift.
