Snow early from this northern system.

For 2/13/10: For Today: These weaker pacific waves are continuing their march across northern Colorado with the southern most end of the first wave for the weekend offering snow early to the divide and higher terrain. We are seeing just high clouds at the south end of the valley so far but scattered snow showers will be moving down there as well as the stronger portion of this system builds through this afternoon. Our best chance at snow will come through this afternoon and overnight before we see some clearing for Sunday afternoon and Monday.

Overnight lows were warmer than expected for the northend of the valley at 16 degrees while Gunnison dropped under the clearer skies to 6 degrees. Daytime highs will reach the high 20’s for all elevations with the temperature swing being moderated by the clouds and snow. Tonight will be colder as skies clear with all elevations hovering right around the 0 mark tomorrow morning.

The dominant flow of the pattern will hold to our north with this volley of pacific waves offering a glancing blow that will limit our potential accumulations. Expect the potential for gusting winds since we are so close to the edge with the heaviest gusts at the higher elevations and ridges. Bundle up with the threat of colder windchill values.
