Sun on fresh snow.

For 2/8/10: For Today: This latest system has mostly cleared the area and the snow is all over except for a few scattered remnants that will keep isolated showers going mostly over the higher terrain. We can expect skies clearing through the day as we gap these weaker pacific waves offering more sun into tomorrow. The clearer conditions will hold through Tuesday before we see another round of pacific moisture offering snow on Wednesday and much of the extended forecast will involve spotty hit or miss systems.

Temperatures have remained pretty mild with the heavy cloud cover keeping the overnight lows at 8 degrees for Crested Butte and 7 degrees for Gunnison. Daytime highs will climb under the spotty sunshine but will hold in the mid 20’s like we have been seeing through the last few days. Overnight lows tonight will be significantly colder under the clearer skies with all elevations dropping below 0.

Expect a mix of conditions for today with areas of sunshine giving way to continued snow showers. This will be the trend through most of the week as we see more weak pacific systems rolling through to our south. As usual pack layers with the changes we are expecting and be prepared for all conditions.
