New snow and more on the way.

For 2/7/10: For Today: The first round of this system choked up on us yesterday and we saw more snow than expected earlier than expected. The result was the lull overnight but moisture is continuing to lift into the area and we have a full day of snow on tap. Regional radar is showing a strong pocket of moisture building through the 4 corners area and squally snow showers will drop another 3-5” through the day.

Overnight lows were milder with the cloud cover with Crested Butte reporting 12 degrees and 10 degrees in Gunnison. Daytime highs will peak in the mid 20’s again providing another day in the snow sweet spot. If the snow holds on overnight lows will look a lot like last night.

As this system clears through the next 48 hours we will see a ridge returning by Monday night and Tuesday offering mostly sunny conditions. This break will be brief with another pacific system settling in by mid week but it’s not looking too strong so we’ll have to see how the dynamics shape up. It will remain fairly mild through today but bundle up and be waterproof with this continued snow.
