A slow start but snow on the way.
For 2/6/10: For Today: The different dynamics associated with this next round of moisture are coming together a little later than initially forecast and snow will be starting today and holding strong through tomorrow. Regional radar is showing the first real pocket of moisture moving in our direction out of Grand Junction early and we will see snow in varied degrees early getting stronger through the day. Accumulations will be limited today but by tonight we can expect heavier snow continuing through tomorrow with 6-8” likely before Monday.
Overnight lows were warmer than expected with the cloud cover and southern influence with Crested Butte reporting 13 degrees and Gunnison 12 degrees. Daytime highs will feed off the same warm air climbing to the to high 20’s even with snow building. Tonight with be about the same as last night so look for lows hovering right around 10 degrees.
This storm is actually made up of a number of different pockets of moisture pushing into the area on a dirty western flow and this makes it a little harder to predict. Expect squally snow showers that will present locally heavy snow with some gusting winds likely as the stream moves through. Layer up and don’t be fooled by a pretty mild start to the day.
