Systems coming together.
For 2/3/10: For Today: We are continuing to see this split system moving into the west with the brunt headed to the south while the northern option slowly creeps in our direction. We will see the two systems mixing through the next 24 hours and just how just how much snow we’ll see depends entirely on how far north the southern branch can reach. Either way this pattern is not going to allow for a huge snowmaker and a couple inches is all we can expect.
Overnight lows stayed cold even with the building cloud cover with Crested Butte hitting.-5 degrees this morning while Gunnison, under the inversion, made it to -10 degrees. Daytime highs will have a harder time rebounding than yesterday with the heavy cloud cover and the high teens is all we can expect for most elevations. Look for another cold night but temperatures will climb by another couple degrees with the thickening cloud cover and snow.
The western weather pattern is feeding a dirty flow of blown out moisture into our area and the result will be hit or miss showers through the end of the week and weekend. A bigger pacific system seems to be brewing for next week but until then we will see a mix of sun and snow with neither truly dominating the flow. Be prepared for changes throughout the day.
