Mostly sunny and cold early.

For 2/2/10: For Today: We have entered the gap between waves of moisture and sunny skies will dominate while we wait on this next system. We can expect high clouds building through the day but skies will remain mostly sunny. This system is proving to be a bit weaker and more illusive than initially expected so models are stepping back on potential snow totals but look for it to continue into Thursday.

Overnight lows were cold under the clearer skies with Crested Butte dropping to -11 degrees and Gunnison to -12 degrees. We will rebound under the sunny skies but look for the valleys to stay inverted with the teens or low 20’s as high as we will see. Tonight should be a little warmer but look for lows to hover below 0.

This next round of moisture will kick off with an unorganized split flow and the result will be mixed and hard to predict. Look for snow in varied degrees offering a couple inches max before it clears but another wave by the weekend is looking more promising. Today will remain chilly so be sure to be prepared.
