Snow early but clearing today.

For 2/1/10: For Today: Regional radar is showing more moisture continuing to boil around Grand Junction feeding into our area. We can expect snow continuing through this morning but slowly tapering off from the west through the afternoon. Accumulations will be limited but we could see a couple inches before skies clear overnight.

Overnight lows were colder last night with Crested Butte dropping to 9 degrees while Gunnison made it down to 1 degree. Daytime highs will be limited by the cloud cover and snow and will hover right around the 2o degree mark for all elevations. Tonight’s temperatures will likely be significantly colder with the fresh snow cover and clearing skies and will drop below 0 for the first time in a while.

The western weather pattern is looking pretty active through the next week with a gap offering partly sunny skies for Tuesday but then another pacific system will move in for Wednesday and Thursday offering a pretty good swing at some snow. Just how much will depend on these systems develop in the next 24 hours. For today plan on continued snow with some sun mixing in.
