More sun but high clouds building this afternoon.

For 1/30/10: For Today: We are continuing to ride out the rest of this high pressure gap between pacific waves and we are on track with the forecast so look for increasing clouds through this afternoon but another warm sunny day. The high clouds building into this evening are the front end of a pacific wave moving through the west that has drawn thinner and thinner through the last few days and snow accumulations will be limited. Look for a couple inches max through Monday with another round expected to move in by Wednesday.

Overnight lows showed that reverse inversion again with Crested Butte dropping to 0 while Gunnison held warmer at 8 degrees. Daytime highs will look a lot like yesterday with the mid to low 30’s likely for all elevations. Tonight with be a little warmer than last night with this cloud cover building with all elevations hovering in the single digits or low teens.

We are continuing to see waves of moisture in the pacific moving into the west and we will have a swing at more snow this week. These systems are not big organized snowmakers so accumulations will be limited. Don’t forget your sunscreen today and pack layers to account for the increasing cloud cover.
