A break in the storm early.
For 1/28/10: For Today: This last system blew through faster than expected but wrap around moisture will keep snow showers in the area for most of the day. We can expect a couple more inches if some of the healthier remnants settle in but the big snow is past us. Skies will clear overnight as this high pressure ridge sets up from the west and we will see sunny skies for Friday and Saturday.
Overnight lows were warm with the snow with Crested Butte reporting 19 degrees and Gunnison was only a couple degrees colder at 15 degrees. Daytime highs are getting a head start with the warm overnight lows but we will likely hold to the high 20’s valley wide. Look for significantly colder overnight lows tonight dropping below 0 for all elevations with clear skies and fresh snow cover.
We are on track with the current forecast with a high pressure ridge settling in for Friday and Saturday before the next pacific system moves in. Look for snow on Sunday with another round on Tuesday. It’s going to be a beautiful day but pack layers with scattered snow showers continuing.
